UKRAINE VS RUSSIA IN SIMPLE TERMS

In plain terms, imagine Russia and Ukraine as brothers of the same father (the Soviet Union).

Both of them went to start a family with land inheritance from their father (the Soviet Union).

Russia believes they are still family. Ukraine (or parts of Ukraine) doesn't.

Ukraine wants to be friends with a strange man he met somewhere (NATO, majorly USA). This man happens to be their father's enemy in his lifetime.

Russia talks to Ukraine not to do that.

He explains that it would be a desecration to their father's memory and that the man who is acting friendly just wants to take their father's properties (land).

He also explains that the strange man wants to destroy the father's legacy and become powerful.

Ukraine doesn't believe. Instead, he believes the strange man would protect him in times of danger, trade with him and bless him. He is ready to be close friends with the strange man.

Russia sees that Ukraine is a stubborn brother and would do anything to prevent the strange man from coming into their home, even if it means killing some of the new family his brother (Ukraine's population) has made
